ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Cvnt.F4gula: My name is Willow but some have been known to call me “Mother” I am a team member of Phantasmagoria in addition I also solo host and co-host various events including fully sober social gatherings! Outside of the nightlife in our beautiful scene and I’m an illustrator/watercolor painter. I’m highly dedicated to creating a safe space for all new comers and baby bats alike. I want to make sure that a space is curated that I would have wanted when I was a young little bat. I highly value an Anti-capitalist and DIY mentality and seek to create as many opportunities to operate outside of oppressive structures and uplift independent artists.

Chicago Gothic Scene was founded in 2024 by two South Siders looking to celebrate and connect Chicago’s goth community. We spotlight local events, artists, DJs, performers, venues, and the people who keep the scene alive. Our goal is to help build a safe, welcoming, and supportive community where goths, artists, musicians, and like minded creatives can connect with one another. We believe the scene is strongest when people look out for each other, support local talent, and create opportunities for new people to get involved.

RUBY KAY: My name is Kay, but many of y’all know me as Ruby Kay! I am a burlesque dancer, performer, model, and artist who grew up on the Southwest side of Chicago. I love vintage and gothic fashion, baking, collecting physical media, painting, and up-cycling/restoring clothes and furniture. I have a Mortuary Science degree and also studied disability rights and activism. Advocating for T1D and other chronic illnesses is a special mission for me. Some of my main goals as an individual in the scene is to keep everyone safe, help our baby bats, and continue to be a welcoming face and great partner on the dance floor!

DRUID: BOO!!!! haha just kidding but hi u guys I am Salix Babylonica aka Druid!! I am a multimedia artist who can never pick just one medium to stick with, I love burlesque and drag because I feel like it combines all of the mediums I love into one performance!

I really love what Phantasmagoria and others in the scene have been doing for our community. They stand on buisness and do not hold space for abusers, bigots, or creeps whatsoever. This alligns strongly with my values as I also want to contribute to making the scene more safe, fun, and accessible for everyone! If we are ever at an event together and someone makes you uncomfortable, or you need some help in general, please come find me! I want to be someone people in the scene can rely on when needed. I am also in a band, an up and coming duo named "Shutter Slut", that just can't pick one box to fit into. (to be fair they are from outerspace and fairly new to earth music...)

Visceral Spit: Hey yall, I'm Viscera Spit, better known to many of you as Cam. I am genderfluid and use any pronouns. I'm the frontman and songwriter for Unvirgin Mary, and cohost and resident DJ at Phantasmagoria. As both an artist and a listener, I gravitate heavily towards the deathrock subgenre, for many reasons, but notably for the genre’s often brash but poetic way of speaking on challenging topics that are usually silenced. When I started Unvirgin Mary, while there were of course plenty of avid deathrock enjoyers in Chicago, there were no deathrock bands. Growing this genre in my city is a huge passion of mine and it's been awesome to see more deathrock bands blossom in Chicago. We hope to see more arise and you may have heard us and DAMMIT! refer to this call to action as the “Chicago Deathrock Revival” (join us). Writing deathrock is part of my way of pushing back against consumerism and pressures to conform in the goth community. I write about some pretty heavy handed topics of child abuse, queerness, and my many years as a sex worker in an effort to shine a light on things people are scared to talk about and help people find comfort, healing and a voice. I love creating DIY events where artists can express their truest selves and where our community can take shelter from abusers and fascists. Outside of our community, I am a mortuary science student, visual artist, witch, and a lover of cats, books, and horror movies. Come say hi or dance with me anytime! Yours truly,
Mz. Viscera Cigaretta Spit
