Nicky Mendelsohn's BUTT STUFF: a new cabaret

For years, Nicky Mendelsohn has been terrified of sex, intimacy, and anyone seeing him naked. Today Nicky is a budding minx who was recently named “your favorite top’s favorite top” by a jury of himself. With the help of two backup singers, The Good Time Girls (Jackson Mikkelsen and Gabriella Smurawa), Nicky will share his journey to sex positivity with the Dorothy.

BUTT STUFF features songs by Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, Madonna, and so many more! Butt Stuff uses songs, stories, jokes, and three-part harmony to celebrate non monogamy, sex positivity, body positivity, and finding pleasure in ways that are fun, safe, and affirming. At this performance we will be collecting donations for Midwest Access Coalition.

Doors at 6pm and our show begins at 7pm. Dorothy remains open after the performance until 11pm.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Please note: refund requests are only available until 24h before the show (10/19, 7pm). No other refund requests will be honored.

ABOUT THE SHOW TEAM

Nicky Mendelsohn (Writer/Performer)
Nicky Mendelsohn (he/him) Nicky is a four-time Broadway World Award loser, a two-time Jeff Award loser, and a five-time disappointment to his family. Despite all of this, Nicky is thrilled to share Butt Stuff for the first time with you all tonight! Nicky’s previous cabaret show, Be My Friend?!?, has performed all around Chicagoland and was recently awarded “Spirit of the Fringe” at the Green Bay Fringe Festival. Nicky is a current artistic associate with Hell in a Handbag Productions. Nicky hopes you enjoy the show and if you don’t, keep that sh*t to yourself.

Patrick Hill (Music Director/ Accompanist)
Patrick Hill (he/him) is a musician, music director, and teacher. When Nicky lets him out of the basement, he enjoys cooking, reading, and brushing his teeth three times a day. Some of Nicky's favorite credits of Patrick's include Be My Friend?!?! at Davenport's, Be My Friend?!?! at Green Bay Fringe Festival, Be My Friend?!?! at Chief O'Neill's, Be My Friend?!?! at Coco & Blue, and Mamma Mia!. He is so excited for everyone to see Butt Stuff and to be back in his favorite position - behind the piano. Patrick would like to thank his parents, but Nicky says I'm your mom now.

Jena Sugai (Director)
Jena Sugai (she/her) is a director and arts educator who has worked at regional theaters, festivals, and educational institutions across the country - with Nicky's permission, of course. When she's not busy shaping the next generation of theatrical monsters, you'll find her sipping an ungodly amount of white wine, catering to the whims of her beagle (who, frankly, needs to learn some boundaries), and developing new works these deliciously depraved degenerates. If you caught Be My Friend?!?! at one of the many places it has graced over the past two years, you may be entitled to compensation. When not seducing audiences through storytelling, Jena moonlights as a corporate communications strategist, specializing in employee relations, ESG, and the ever-important task of making executives sound sexier - strictly in the professional sense (unless the price is right).

Gabriella Smurawa (Good Time Girl)
Gabriella Smurawa (she/her) performs pro bono for various storefront theaters here in Chicago. When she's not giving back to her community, Gabriella enjoys listening to Dateline and shooting pigeons with her new bb gun. If you want to know her previous credits, venmo $5 to @Gabriella-Smurawa and she'll tell you. Gabriella will accept money for pictures of the inside of her airpods case. Enjoy the show!

Jackson Mikkelsen (Good Time Girl)
Jackson Mikkelsen (he/him) was once a pleasure to have in class. The Mayor recently named Jackson as Chicago’s Hottest Gay Delinquent under 5’6”. He dedicates this “lil skit” to his twink boyfriend, Brian, and his obese foster cat, Miss Vangie. If you want to exchange capital for his labor, visit www.jacksonmikkelsen.com, otherwise sit back and enjoy the show!
